Modeling Tips - Drop Structure Links
A
drop structure link in ICPR is a composite structure consisting of one or
more weirs (including orifices, sluice gates, etc.) in series with a
pipe. These types of structures are popular for controlling water
levels and rates of discharge from detention ponds. A typical drop
structure is shown in the photograph below. A standard inlet
structure was modified opening the front face. Water spills through
the "weir" opening and drops to the bottom of the catch
basin. From there, water flows through a pipe and under a berm to
another pond in the drainage system. This particular structure
includes flashboards (shown on the top of the structure). The
flashboards can be slid into the slots on the face of the opening to block
off a portion of the opening. These can be modeled as bottom clips
in ICPR.
