ICPR Modeling Tips - Operable Structures

ICPR includes the capability to modify structure openings during a simulation based on criteria established in the form of an "operating table".  Some examples of operable structures include sluice gates, radial gates, and flash boards.  Operating tables work in a similar manner as cross sections in the sense that the tables are constructed first and then referenced by specific links.  In this example, an operating table is used to establish criteria for placing and pulling flash boards from a weir structure.  In particular, the bottom clip feature is used to block off a portion of the weir opening based on upstream depths above the invert.

Operating Criteria

This operating table will change the bottom clip from 18" to 0" depending on the depth of water above the invert.  This is equivalent to having (3) 6-inch flash boards in place until the water level exceeds a 3.5-foot depth above the invert of a weir.

Weir Data Form

The default bottom clip is et to 18", but by specifying the operating table named FLASHBOARDS, the 18" default bottom clip is ignored and is replaced by the values  in the operating table.
